A recent announcement by Samsung Electronics Canada is making the laundry room green (not your clothing, or course).
Samsung is giving away a year supply of environmentally preferable ATTITUDE fabric detergent with the purchase of a 27” Samsung washer and dryer.
Both Samsung and ATTITUDE are making large strides when it comes to the environment. Samsung has a full line of laundry products that are energy efficient and carry the Energy Star rating and ATTITUDE household products are the largest line of home cleaners in the world that are EcoLogo-certified.

Samsung and ATTITUDE also offer the following tips to help green the laundry room:
Full Capacity is Key – Only do a load of laundry when you have a full load. Washing and drying one full load is more energy efficient than washing and drying two medium-sized loads. Also, when drying laundry refrain from adding wet items to a load that is already partially dried – it will just increase the cycle time.
Clean Your Dryer – Make a habit of cleaning out your dryer’s lint filter after each use. A clogged filter can lead to longer drying cycles – wasting both your time and money. Also, periodically check the outside dryer exhaust vent to ensure it’s clean, unobstructed and that the flapper can open and close freely.
Timing Is Everything - Dry loads right after each other to take advantage of the heat still in the dryer from the previous load. Also set your dryer to an auto-dry setting instead of a timer setting to help reduce wasted energy.
It’s all in the Detergent - Use concentrated laundry detergent as it contains less packaging. Also, purchase a biodegradable and non-toxic detergent as it won’t harm the environment or your health.
Use Mother Nature – Take advantage of warm weather by hanging your laundry to dry outside.
Save on Dry Cleaning – While the tag may say “dry-clean only” you shouldn’t believe everything you read. Several delicate fabrics like wools and silks can be laundered at home with proper care. So be environmentally friendly and cut your dry cleaning bills by washing your delicates at home, air drying or using Samsung’s “steam refresher” feature to freshen up wrinkled clothes.
