“Change your environmentality” is the tagline on Cascades Simplegreenaction.ca website. Here, visitors can find eco-tips, an eco blog and tests that score a person’s “environmentality.” This site, which has been up and running for more than a year and a half, remains fresh with helpful environmental tips and topics for the everyday consumer.
“The environment is in the company DNA,” says Jocelyne Pinsonneault, Vice President of Marketing at Cascades Tissue Group, referring to the company’s philosophy of reusing that began more than 40 years ago. Cascades has also significantly increased its sustainability efforts, which are achieved in part through its 80 per cent less water usage than the Canadian industry average as well as preserving almost 47 million trees each year.
Consumers can choose from bathroom tissue, facial tissue, kitchen towels and napkins that are fragrance-free, made with 100 per cent recycled fibers, and bleached without chlorine. While these products are only available in Canada, Cascades industrial products can be found on both sides of the border.
North River®, one of Cascades commercial offerings, is the most complete line of tissue paper products made with recycled fibers on the market. The North River brand not only exceeds the most stringent environmental standards, but also boasts the highest number of certifications in the industry, which include EcoLogo, Processed Chlorine Free and Green Seal. These products are also endorsed by Green Restaurant Association and even manufactured using clean, renewable energy.
A new North River® product is soon to be launched. This bath tissue will offer the same high quality in bigger roles. Perforations will give each roll 1,250 sheets, making this tissue paper last longer while reducing packaging. Keep your eyes open for this one.
