Products used on a daily basis by most North Americans - shampoos, hair conditioners, body wash and body soap - are undergoing a special kind of scrutiny as the EcoLogo Program reviews its standard for Personal Care Products. The public is being called upon to comment on this standard from today until March 4, 2009.
As a first step in the review process, the EcoLogo Program has conducted some preliminary research of environmental leadership qualities for personal care products in North America. Of top concern are human health hazards such as carcinogens, neurotoxins, endocrine disruptors, allergens and reproductive toxins.
The EcoLogo team invites interested parties to read its preliminary research document (or parts of it according to area of expertise) and provide comments to the EcoLogo Program.
Interested parties are also encouraged to participate in the EcoLogo Standards Development Forum. To participate, send a request to forums@ecologo.org and specify your first and last name, indicate your affiliation and your interest in participating in the Personal Care Product usergroup – Certification Criteria Discussion Document (CCD) 103. Please indicate CCD-103 in the title of your email.
Please note: comments must be received by March 4, 2009.
