Tidal, Wave and Geothermal Power may be the next electricity technologies to become part of the EcoLogo renewable electricity standard. As part of its review of this renewable energy standard, the EcoLogo Program is calling for citizen and stakeholder comment.
As the second step in the review process, the EcoLogo Program encourages interested parties to read its draft standard for renewable low-impact electricity and provide feedback through surveys that are linked on the Ecologo.org site.
This draft standard examines Canadian and U.S. electricity technologies including:
• Biogas-Fuelled Electricity
• Biomass-Fuelled Electricity
• Geothermal-Powered Electricity
• Solar-Powered Electricity
• Tidal and Wave-Powered Electricity
• Water-Powered Electricity
• Wind-Powered Electricity
Tradeable Renewable Energy Certificates are also being considered in this review.
This stakeholder consultation period will be open for 30 days beginning May 22, 2009. Comments must be received by June 23, 2009.
If you wish to register as a stakeholder in the review of the EcoLogo standard for renewable low-impact electricity or learn more about the EcoLogo standard development and revision process, please contact Julie Baribeau at jbaribeau@terrachoice.com or at 1-613-247-1900 ext: 241.
