This week, EcoLogo announced the initiation of its first standard for pool and spa chemicals. With summer here and more than seven million pools found across North America, we couldn’t think of a more topical subject for the blog.
As Scot Case, Executive Director of the EcoLogo Program explained in a press release about the new standard, there are substances used in pools and spas that could potentially be toxic to human health and the environment. In developing its standards, the EcoLogo Program begins by outlining key environmental issues and questions to be addressed by the standard and invites a broad group of stakeholders to weigh in on part or the entire process to ensure the highest environmental standard.
“This new EcoLogo standard will define clear criteria that products must meet before they can claim environmental leadership,” said Case.
The EcoLogo Program is looking for interested individuals and companies to participate in this standard development process as feedback is vitally important to the program.
