Ecoholic Home Brings “Green” to the Block
In the last issue of eQ, we mentioned that Adria Vasil’s next book was about to be released. Canadian homeowners, renters, condo dwellers and college residence movers and shakers will want to take note that this new book has hit their store shelves over the past few weeks. It’s called Ecoholic Home and it’s written by NOW Magazine columnist Adria Vasil. What readers will find in its pages are countless “green” tips and the real dirt on everything from cooking and gadgeting to renovating and powering what goes on in the home. New features in this follow-up to Adria’s first green guide, Ecoholic, are money-saving tips and a greenwashing symbol that draws attention to areas particularly notorious for misleading green marketing claims.
Back in November ‘09, Adria celebrated her newly released book with a launch attended by friends and fans in Toronto at the Gladstone Hotel. She told the audience and onstage interviewer Dr. Rick Smith, Executive Director of Environmental Defence, about some of the adventures she embarked upon when trying to get answers from companies selling “green” products and services. Adria noted that companies have become more sophisticated around “green” products and more of them are now offering legitimately greener options. This is definitely a good thing!
The EcoLogo Program and its clients will be happy to know that the North American eco-label is mentioned at least half a dozen times in the book’s pages and many products under the Program and their companies also received favorable nods.
TerraChoice Environmental Marketing also gets mentioned in the Resources section called “Decoding the Greenwash” for its research on misleading green marketing claims.
Ecoholic Home is a must-read for dwellers of any kind.
